Monstera Love

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Anchor Embroidery Floss Spools, 1 Each. Colors:
• 1044 Grass Green Ultra Dk
• 0001 Snow White
• 0358 Coffee
• 0360 Coffee Dk
• 0403 Black
• 6" Embroidery Hoop
• Even Weave Fabric
• Darning Needle, Size 1-5
• Fabric Pen for Transferring Design

DIRECTIONS:

NOTE: All of the elements use less than the full 6 strands of thread so you will need to split your length of thread before beginning each element.

Finished design area is approximately 4 1/2x 4 1/2 inches.

1. Begin with the Monstera Leaves using 1044 / 3 strands / Sst. It is easier to start at the edge of the leaf, to the middle.
2. Next, using 1044 and 3 strands, do an Ost to create the stems.
3. The main color of the plant pot is 00001 (white) and is created using horizontal Sst / 3 strands.
4. Next stitch the plant pot legs/frame. The legs are a vertical Sst / 3 strands, and the frame is an angled Sst / 3 strands (See the template).
5. The soil is created using 358 / 3 strands / Fknots (twice around the needle).
6. There is no need to count how many you have done - just stop when satisfied with how it looks.
7. Finally, outline the plant pot and frame (including legs) with 403 / Bst / 1 Strand.

JOANN HACKS:

• To separate the floss into strands, cut an 18" length. Hold one end and run the finger of your opposite hand between the strands allowing them to untwist. Thread the needle.
