SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Unfinished Wood Frame
  • White Acrylic Paint
  • Medium Paint Brush
  • Color Pour Resin and Hardener
  • Assorted Artificial or Dried Flowers
  • Quick Grip Glue
  • Wire Cutters
  • Heat Gun
  • Toothpicks

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Paint the edge of the wooden frame white and let it dry.
  2. Take the floral stems and try to slice them in half so that they aren't so fat.
  3. Do a dry run and lay out your floral inside of the frame.
  4. Once you like the layout, pick up each stem and place a small amount of glue in the side that you previously cut and then place the stem back in place within the frame.
  5. Do this will all of the floral stems so that they are securely attached inside of the frame, keeping the fattest flower about 1/4" front the front of the frame. Use your heat gun to remove any air bubbles.
  6. Let everything dry overnight.
  7. Following the instructions on the resin box, mix a small about of the resin, (enough to cover the bottom of the frame) and pour it into the frame moving around the stems. You want to "seal" the bottom and adhere the floral stems to the bottom. Let that layer dry for at least 6 hours.
  8. Mix another batch of the resin, (enough to go on top of the previous layer and make it about 1/8" thicker. Use your heat gun to remove any air bubbles. Let it dry at least 6 hours. You will keep doing this process until you are about 1/4" from the top of the frame. Once you are done, let it sit for 24 hours to completely harden.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Make sure you watch for air bubbles coming out for under and around the floral as you are putting down each layer.
