SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 large orange craft pumpkin
  • 1 medium white craft pumpkin
  • 2 oz jar purple acrylic paint
  • 2 oz jar gold acrylic paint
  • 2 oz jar gold glitter paint
  • Two 2 oz jars purple glitter paint
  • Craft paint brushes and/or foam circle brushes
  • Paint tray
  • Drop cloth / newspaper
  • Pencil
  • Painter's tape (optional)
  • Hair dryer or heat gun (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Protect work surface with newspaper or drop cloth.
  2. Starting with the small pumpkin and a foam circle brush - randomly paint approx 1.75" circles onto the pumpkin with the gold paint to make a base for the glitter paint. Set aside to dry. To use a regular paint brush, find a small round object and trace around it with a pencil to create circles. Then apply paint and set aside to dry.
  3. For the large orange pumpkin: using a regular paint brush and the purple paint - following the grooves of the pumpkin, paint approx 2" stripes down the pumpkin. Painter's tape can be laid down to make more perfect lines. Sometimes one groove will be painted and other times two grooves will be painted in one stripe. Count them out before starting to create desired pattern. Set aside to dry.
  4. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to dry paint if still wet. Apply a second coat of paint to both pumpkins, and let dry. Remove painter's tape if previously applied.
  5. Paint two coats of glitter paint (purple over purple, gold over gold) on top of the paint that has already been applied to the pumpkins, letting the first coat dry before applying the final.
