SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Aleene's Fabric Fusion Permanent Fabric Tape
- Aleene's Wood Glue
- 1/2yd of outdoor fabric or canvas
- 5/8" wooden dowels, 4-5
- Pencil
- Sandpaper
- Tape measure
DIRECTIONS:
- Wash and dry your fabric (this takes out sizing).
- Cut wood dowels for the structure. Sand all of the edges and corners smooth.
- Glue pieces together with your Aleene's wood glue. Begin with the roof and match up the top most point. Then add the two sides to make the front frame of the structure. Repeat this for the back side. Use tape to hold the joints in place until the glue cures (approx 30 minutes). You will end up with 2 shapes that look like an outline of a house.
- Glue the 5 horizontal dowels to each house shape. You will glue all 5 of them to one house, let dry and then glue the 2nd house to the dowels that are already attached to the first house. The dowels will be positioned at the peak of the roof line, the edge of each roof side (left and right) and the bottom of each side. Again, you can use tape to hold the dowels in place while they cure.
- Iron your fabric then measure and cut.
- Hem the width of your fabric. Begin by folding over 1" inward (towards the wrong side of the fabric) on the long edge of your fabric and then folding over 1" again.
- Run your fabric fusion tape along the edge on the inner side of the fabric to attach the hem and essentially create a "channel" for the bottom dowel. Press firmly and be sure it is secure.
- Flip the structure over and repeat for the other side of the short edge of the fabric.
