SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Nine popsicle sticks [wood craft sticks]
- 24"x 12" piece of cotton fabric
- Three pieces of 9" x 12" felt
- 5" Square of faux fur fabric
- Poly-fil/fiber fill/fluff
- Fabric scissors
- Fabric Fusion
- Glue gun
DIRECTIONS:
- This project creates one dollhouse play tent, one sleeping bag, one pillow, and one faux sheepskin rug, scaled for play with 3.5" dolls.
- To make the tent A-frame structure, glue the popsicle sticks from the ground up following the diagram provided.
- To find the downloadable patterns and diagrams click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
- Use the pattern to cut the tent fabric. Continue cutting patterns for the felt components and the faux sheepskin rug.
- To complete the tent, fold the .5" glue area backward and fabric fusion to a finished size of 15"x 4.625". Using your glue gun, glue the short end of the completed tent fabric to the bottom of the popsicle stick A-frame. Continue wrapping the tent fabric around the A-frame and glue it to the three horizontal sticks.
- Glue the triangle felt piece to the back of the tent.
- Fold the short side of the felt sleeping bag forward, fold/glue the flaps to the back.
- Fold felt pillow, glue three sides, stuff with poly-fil, glue the final side.
- Add felt icons to decorate your camping set. And play!
JOANN HACKS:
- We made three camping sets. If you want to make three, triple your materials and mix and match fun colors and patterns.
- Ironing your fabric's folds before using fabric fusion gives your final design a crisper look and to more easily see areas for applying adhesive.
- This project was designed as a no-sew project, but the gluing can be replaced with simple sewing.
- Decorate with paint, stencils, fabric markers or add embellishments to personalize your camping set.
