SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1 Piece of natural canvas like material 12" x 14"
- Black Cricut Iron-on Adhesive
- 1 Dowel rod 1/4" about 10-12"
- Iron-on “Steam a Seam 2"
- 1 Roll of natural string or 18" of natural jute, small to medium diameter
- Scissors
- Rotary cutter, optional
- Pencil
- Metal straight edge (ruler)
- Iron
- Cricut machine
- Cutting surface
DIRECTIONS:
- Lay the fabric face down on your cutting surface.
- Fold the sides over on the length side 1/4" and press with your iron.
- Slide in a piece of Steam a Seam into that fold and press again until adhered.
- To make the wall hanging able to hold the dowel rod at the top, fold the fabric over about 1" and press. Slide the Steam a Seam at the edge of the unfinished edge on the fold and press again. Allow space for the dowel rod to be able to slide in there.
- Fold the fabric in half lengthwise just at the bottom to figure out the center of the fabric. Using your pencil, make a slight mark on the centerline at the bottom on the width side.
- At the bottom of the wall hanging you are going to fold the sides at a diagonal to make a point at that center mark.
- Fold each side equal in the diagonal and press with your iron. Trim off the excess fabric to have a remaining fold of 1/4".
- Slide in the Steam a Seam and press again to adhere the seam.
- Slide your dowel rod into the finished folded top seam.
- Cut a piece of jute or twin to the desire length, about 18" and tie each end onto the ends of the dowel rod.
- On the front of the wall hanging determine what phrase and font you would like to have. Make sure your longest line of words will fit. Whatever that length and font size is, will determine the font size for the other lines of words.
- Create your phrase on the Cricut machine and cut them out of the black iron-on adhesive. Iron your phrase onto the front of your wall hanging.
CRAFT HACK TIPS & TRICKS:
- Finish the shape of the wall hanging first before you measure and create your phrase for the front of the wall hanging.
