DIRECTIONS:
- TOP: Top and Back bodice will be out of foil and lower skirt. Follow instructions on pattern.
- LOWER SKIRT RUFFLES: Cut soft foil: #13 cut 4, #14 cut 6, #15 cut 6. Following instructions for placing foil, gathering a few more flare pieces are needed for a fuller look. These will be place in the seams sections as mentioned on pattern instructions.
- Cut tulle: #13 cut 16, #14 cut 8, #15 cut 13.
- TULLE: Sew four of #13 separate then sew four of #13 together. Gather tulle to fit the first tier following after the foil. Place both gathered tulle on top of each other to make the tulle not so transparent and looking fuller.
- Repeat tulle for the second tier with #13.
- Sew four of #14 of tulle then another set of four of #14. Sew the two tiers of tulle to the middle section, gathering slightly if needed.
- Sew seven of #15 of tulle then another set of seven of #15. Sew the two tiers to the lower section below foil.
- Sew horsehair braid to hem, turn and top stitch down.
- PETTICOAT: Cut petticoat to the skirt pattern, leave a 9" opening at waist. Hem petticoat. Cut two lengths for ruffle, the width of fabric x 18". Fold in ruffle half, gather and sew 9" from the bottom of petticoat. Finish waist with elastic to fit waist or a twill tape tie.
Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:
- If the tulle is attracting static electricity, spray very lightly with water.
- Do not press wrinkles out of tulle. Just steam.
- Avoid back-stitching lace seams to guard against lace getting caught in needle plate.
