- 1pkg of 1 1/4" elastic
- 1 poster board
- Scotch® or duct tape
- About 10 rubber bands
- Top Pattern: McCall's M7386
- 2yds blue jersey knit
- Sewing notions
DIRECTIONS:
- Follow pattern instructions and yardage to complete the top.
- Measure your waistline, cut out elastic plus 1/2" for seam allowance.
- Sew elastic seams together. Make a cylindrical base out of the poster board, the same size as your waist, tape seams together. The board helps with putting the tulle strips.
- Cut tulle strips 6" wide on the cross grain. Layer all the colors together and cut all of them at the same time (saves time).
- Making of the tutu: Use 2 or 3 layers of tulle together to make the skirt fuller. Fold the center of the strip, make a
- loop, fold over the elastic and bring up the strips through the loop.
- Pull strips gently but firmly. Don't to fold over the elastic.
- Change the folding at the center every now and then by folding it longer on one end. This makes the skirt look even fuller and allows it to resemble movement. Making sure the shorter end is on the outside top of skirt.
- After making a few strips, wrap a rubber band around the tulle to keep them out of the way. Continue wrapping them with the rubber bands. When finished undo the rubber bands, spread strips evenly along the elastic.
- Fluff the tulle strips.
