I've made a couple of these octopus guys. I'd like to share a few tips. If you would like your octopus to have 8 legs, start out with 8 stitches in the beginning, rather than 7. Also, my second octopus turned out better because I used a hook 2 sizes smaller than my yarn called for and the stitches ended up closer together which showed less stuffing. Also, make sure when you add each tenticle on the top half that the right side is always facing you, and when working on the bottom half that the wrong side is facing you as you start each tenticle. This ensures that your bottom piece is facing right side out when you attatch it to the top half and that all the tenticles curl in the same direction. I had to remove several tenticles and re-stitch them the first time around because they were not lining up. Last tip, use a smaller hook to attatch the top to the bottom, it makes it much easier to get in all those stitches! Have fun!
Date published: 2015-07-28

Rated 2 out of 5 by Amanda from Great except it is a Sectopus as written. I wish I would have read the review about the pattern only having 7 legs BEFORE I was all in. Back in 2017, I made a blue-ringed octopus interpretation of this little guy-- that was back when I had first started crocheting.
