SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1yd each of 5 gray quilting prints and solids
- 1 1/2yds white cotton fabric
- 3/4yd cotton fabric for binding
- 4 1/4yds fabric for backing
- Twin size batting
- Template plastic
- Rotary cutter, ruler & mat
- Basic sewing supplies
- Iron & ironing surface
DIRECTIONS:
- Quilt 70"x 78"
- Sew with accurate 1/4" seams. Read all directions before cutting and sewing.
- Make template from Diagram A.
- You will use template front to cut pieces for odd rows and flip template over to cut pieces for even rows. Keep your even and odd pieces separate.
- Cut all strip sizes only as needed. 1" and 1 1/2" from white and 2 1/2", 3" and 4 1/2" strips from a mixture of the various grays.
- From white fabric cut one or two 1" strips as needed. Cut 12 pieces from 1" template line. Flip template and cut 16 pieces.
- From white fabric cut 1 1/2" strips as needed. From these cut 101 pieces from 1 1/2" line. Flip template and cut 106 pieces.
- From grays cut a few 2 1/2" strips as needed. Cut 47 pieces at 2 1/2" measure line. Flip template and cut 50 pieces.
- From grays cut some 3" strips as needed. Cut 46 pieces at 3" measure line. Flip template and cut 43 pieces.
- From grays cut 4 1/2" strips as needed. Cut 29 pieces at 4 1/2" measure line. Flip template and cut 29 pieces.
- Arrange pieces in 12 stacks by following row and size chart in Diagram B.
- Sew into strips as shown in Diagram C. Press even rows up and odd rows down.
- You will have 12 rows and pieces are offset when rows are sewn together so no matching required.
- Press and trim points from top and bottom to square up quilt.
- Sandwich top, batting and backing. Quilt as desired.
- Bind the quilt.

- For a scrappier look you could use any left over gray print/solid mixed with your binding fabric.
