SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 3/4yds cream fabric
  • 1yd yellow print fabric
  • 1 5/8yds orange print fabric
  • 3yds fabric for backing
  • 1/2yd fabric for binding
  • Template plastic
  • Rotary cutter, ruler & mat
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Iron & pressing surface

DIRECTIONS:

  1. 48"x 60" Quilt.
  2. Use an accurate 1/4" seam throughout. Read all instructions before cutting.
  3. Press seams as you sew.
  4. From template plastic cut template 1 and 2 from cream fabric, cut 4 strips 8"x WOF. Sub-cut into (20) 8"x 8" squares.
  5. From yellow fabric cut 4 strips 8"x WOF. Sub-cut into (20) 8"x 8" squares.
  6. Lay the yellow square on top of the cream square, right sides together to make your 20 sets.
  7. Follow Diagram A for sewing and cutting instructions. You will have 80 half square triangles when you are finished. Trim each to 4 1/2" squares.
  8. From cream fabric cut 6 strips 4 3/4"x WOF. Use Template 1 as shown in Diagram B. Cut 80 triangles.
  9. From orange fabric cut (3) 4 1/2" strips x WOF. Sub cut into (20) 4 1/2" squares. Set aside for star centers.
  10. From orange fabric cut 8" strips 4 3/4"x WOF. Take 4 of the strips and us Template 2 as shown in Diagram C to cut 80 pieces.
  11. Using the remaining 4 orange strips, flip Template 2 over so you have a mirror image and cut 80 pieces.
  12. Follow Diagram D when sewing the pieces together.
  13. Sew units together as shown in Block Layout to make a block. You will have 20 blocks.
  14. Follow quilt layout to complete your quilt top.
  15. Sandwich quilt top, batting and backing.
  16. Quilt stitching in the ditch or as desired.
  17. Trim and bind the quilt.
