There were 2 of them in this store - both were broken in the exact same place - is it some kind of design flaw? Very hard, brittle plastic. These are made by Darice - wish Artbin or Snapware was making them out of something more flexible and less prone to breakage. Cannot help noticing there are more negative than positive reviews of this product - JoAnns should think about dropping this item.
Date published: 2017-12-20

by M H from Cones do not fit I was so excited to see this storage for thread cones, but wow, what a disappointment: the cones do not fit. Getting the lid circles to match up with all the holes on the top of the spools is impossible. There were four of these on the shelf, and all but one of them had their lids crushed down onto the bottom section, and the corners had cracked. Obviously, someone either mishandled them, they were crushed during shipping, or whoever placed them on the shelf just didn't bother to notice. I took my chances, as they were 50% off, and took them to checkout. I pointed out to the cashier, and told her that they were damaged, but I'd be willing to purchase them if they could be discounted further. She explained they were already discounted, but wondered why I'd bother with them if they were already "trash." I didn't want them thrown away.....she hesitated, but gave them to me for an additional 20% off on top of the sale. I reinforced the cracks with super glue gel, and clear packing tape at home. They work fine for my storage needs, just be gentle with them, and I assume they'd shatter if dropped onto a hard floor. Broken or not, my big spools are now dust free :)
Date published: 2017-06-30

Rated 1 out of 5 by FloriEmb from Not at all what i was hoping for Feels like cheap hard plastic and does not have any kind of closing mechanism, just two hunks of plastic seated on each other.
