Too Tall!
I have had several Ottlite floor lamps with magnifiers, but wanted a new one in case the lights started to burn out. My husband was looking for a Christmas gift so I suggested this lamp. On Christmas Day we assembled it and when I sat in my chair with the light at my side, the glass was about a foot over my head. I could not see through it. I had no choice but to return the lamp.

The magnifier is good and the lights are good. I gave it three stars because the flexible arm isn’t long enough. If you are sitting on your sofa, you have to put the base right in front of you and between your legs so that the magnifier is close enough without have to sit uncomfortably. The flexible arm should be at least one and half times longer. Unfortunately, store policy stated that it can only be returned in an unopened box. How is a customer to know if they like it unless they try it out.

I recieved this ,delivered it, opened this box and it only contained the small lamp. Called in and they refused my money and told me to donate the small lamp. So I did. They sent me a complete new lamp set.

Not my favorite, but usable.
Using as side table version, the base takes up too much space on side table and neck is hard to position. Also as a floor light, the same issues arise. Not flexible enough and not tall enough to use unless sitting in a kitchen chair.

Works great for me
I’ve had mine for years and it’s never let me down. I used it beside a chaise I used while recovering from a toe amputation, and found the light perfectly flexible for work at home, reading, artwork, sewing, and any other projects. I often use it turned to the ceiling for a gentle diffused ambient light. My sewing machines all have led bulbs (including my vintage 221 and 301 featherweights) so I don’t need a lot of spotlighting and find this floor lamp provides my nook plenty of general light.
Plenty flexible for all my uses, even when I had IVs going and one foot useless. Not sure some folks are ever going to find a stationary lamp that suits them. Maybe they need a headlamp and magnifying glasses. Since my cataract surgery, I use 3.00 power readers when sewing in conjunction with the machine LEDs and Ottlight general lighting. Mid 70s, and that’s all I need. Might need more light in my 90s. We shall see. When I do, it’ll probably be Ottlights.

Poor feature
My boss bought the floor lamp with excitement since it had a magnifying lense as well LED light for one of our patient's room. It did not last not even two weeks when the hand held part started to come apart from the base. It could not handle to constant movement. I must say it was a great product until it came apart. We had to trashed it.

Good lamp, except...
I had been using this floor lamp/magnifier for needlepointing. I began to notice that my eyes tired, my vision blurred, and my sleep patterns were off kilter. Some research indicated it is the brightness of the LED bulbs in this lamp. When I quizzed my ophthalmologist about this, she said it is the brightness and the blue light issue common to ultra-bright LEDs, and she said that even blue light filter glasses won't adequately address the problem. I no longer use the magnification unless absolutely necessary, and instead have the lamp over my shoulder, and pointed so that it does not shine directly on my work. It would be great if these lamps came with warm white bulbs instead. Were it not for this issue, which is threatening the health of my aging eyes, I would heartily recommend the lamp. As it stands, caveat emptor.

Ott Light You Can't Live Without !!
I received this as a Christmas gift from my husband. I was using a neck light but it just wasn't enough so immediately I set it up using it as a floor lamp and my crocheting has gone to a whole new level. Plus the magnification is awesome to use while I'm putting crochet earrings together. I am so so happy with my new ott light!!

Great product if it would only last
I’ve bought 3 of these lamps over a period of a number of years because they all start break down. They are fantastic for crossstitching. My last purchase was Perhaps 2 years ago. There is a plastic housing that holds the light positioned and another at the base to adjust the positioning of the lamp (reaching out or back). Metal screws in plastic housing wear out the plastic which cause the lamp to not stay in place. Also the housing at the base has worn out. Will not stay in place any longer. Perhaps a metal housing with metal screws would solve the problem.

Magnifying lamp really helps!
This was exactly what I needed for seeing cross-stitch. The height is a bit odd, but when we removed one section of the stand it worked well. I suppose that extra piece would be helpful for working at table height rather than sitting. Good purchase.

Why didn't I buy this sooner!
This lamp is wonderful! It gives me extra light when working and has the added bonus of a magnifier too; no more taking a picture on my phone then enlarging it to read small print. Its flexible neck makes it easy to get the light where you need it and easily move it when not in use. Super cool that it can be a floor lamp so it is not taking up precious table space when sewing but can sit on the desk while crafting.Why didn't I buy it sooner!

Very pleased with this lamp
Exactly what I was looking for! I purchased the OttLite due to its reputation but also for the ability to have a floor or table lamp. So far I’ve used the floor option and it is very sturdy and I have not had any issues with it tipping. The LED lights are just what I needed to see my crafts as my eyes are not what they used to be. When needed, I have the magnifying glass which is a good size. Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Not as expected
I bought this, thinking it would work as a standing lamp / magnifier next to my recliner. It's quite tall, and the ''bendy'' part of the neck is only about 12'' of it, so you can't get it to eye level. I had to reassemble it to use it as a table lamp, but it's still not right for a side table by the chair. I will have to figure a way to make this work. 2 stars for the good lighting and magnifying.
