Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ungainly and Awkward are my first 2 choices I've had this lamp for at least ten years and it does put out great light. It is unbalanced, awkward to use and it falls over easily. I'm glad I bought it at half price because it was expensive. The magnifier and clamp are hard to adjust unless you stand up, put your foot on the base and move it close to where you want. Then sit down, grab the neck and fine tune. If it isn't balanced it will fall over. Mine fell over in the middle of the night, scared the heck out of me. It is fairly sturdy in as much as only the light bulb got hurt when it fell over. The only reason I still have it is that it puts out great light. I have several Ott lights and I love the amount of light. Would I recommend it to a friend? Probably not this model. It is just too tippy to use with ease. I don't have any of their other floor lamps but I do have table models.

I bought a second one so I could move between two different rooms and work on my cross stitch or quilting without having to constantly move the light. The light is excellent and I love how I can adjust where it shines easily. The clip is another plus since I don’t have a lot of table room to put a pattern holder. The magnifier doesn’t get a ton of use but has come in very handy when dealing with knitted threads or even looking for a sliver in my husband’s hand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Difficult to change configurations First, after taking the time to assemble this light, it didn't work. Lo and behold, the bulb was broken on the end. Then, I tried showing my husband how it's convertable- I had it set up for the floor, on the long pole. You put the light into the pole and turn about 30 degrees... I couldn't for the life of me undo it, and neither could he. I realized with this much effort (you also have to flip it over and unscrew a nut from the bottom) I'm never going to "convert" it to the other styles. I was initially going to ask for a new bulb from the manufacturer, but when I realized what a pain this is I decided to return it. When I think of products like these, I imagine people who are starting to lose their eyesight, dexterity, etc. I'm only 35 and even I struggled to get it apart.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ott Light with Poor Design and Construction This is the second floor lamp style Ott Lamp we have purchased in a 12 month period. The first had a faulty design that resulted in the two pieces of a supplied pole failing time after time. Recently we purchased another that appeared to be better designed and constructed. NOT TRUE! ON first day, the illuminated magnifying glass broke away from its supporting member. Reason was total failure of "epoxy" between magnifying glass and arm. For the cost, Ott light needs to hire better designers and spend more time and money on field testing a design to make sure it will not fail right out of the box.

The only thing I had to replace was the lightbulb. It was readily available and easy to do. If I ever need to replace it i would certainly buy the same lamp
