Outdoor pillows

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 yd Outdoor fabric (for 12" x 18" pillow)
  • 1 1/2 yd Outdoor fabric (for 20" pillow)
  • Cording Package (for piping)
  • 1/4 yd Contrast Fabric (for piping)
  • 12" x 18" Pillow Form
  • 20" Pillow Form

DIRECTIONS:

12" x 18" Pillow

  1. Cut one 13" x 19" for top.
  2. Cut two 13" x 14" for back.
  3. Cut two 2" strips width of fabric.
  4. Sew together at short ends.
  5. Wrap around piping cording and using a zipper foot, sew length of fabric.
  6. Pin piping to front of pillow, having cut edges even.
  7. Sew piping to front.
  8. Sew a narrow hem on the long side of each of back pieces.
  9. Layer right sides together, overlapping the back two pieces.
  10. Sew a 1/2" seam around outside of pillow.
  11. Turn and insert pillow.

20" x 20" Pillow with 2" Flange

  1. Cut one 25" x 25" for front.
  2. Cut two 25" x 15" for back.
  3. Narrow hem along the long side of each of the back pieces.
  4. Layer right sides together, overlapping the back two pieces to fit front.
  5. Sew a 1/2" seam around outside of pillow.
  6. Turn and press.
  7. Mark 2" from side of pillow on all 4 sides.
  8. Top stitch around 2" mark.
  9. Insert pillow.
