Terrible product
I purchased these in my local store in package that had black, gray, and green. I really like the way the gray marks showed up but when I went to sharpen the pencil - no luck. Every time I got the least little point on it, then it would break off way below the wood.

No Stars!! Ruined my quilt!!!
I bought this to trace a rose pattern on a baby quilt. After machine quilting the pattern, I tried to wash off the pencil marks. They would not come out at all!!!! I tried everything!! I washed it 3 times in the machine, used rubbing alcohol, even used a soft toothbrush with straight detergent and nothing would remove the pencil markings. The white came out of the darker fabrics, but the blue and pink did not come out of the lighter fabrics. I was so heartbroken after spending months working on this baby quilt for my granddaughter, having it ruined this way!! It was completed, just wanted to embroider a few roses on some of the squares!! So upsetting!!! Do not buy these!!

Does mot wash out
I bought these EZ washout cloth markers for use in quilting. They do NOT wash out. Do not buy these! They are not as advertised, or misnamed.

Some Pencils Work Better Than Others
The blue and red work best out of the package. My biggest problem with these is that you have to lick the chalk to get it to work on the blue and white. I can get the red to work without licking it. Red seems to work the best for me. These are only really suitable for cotton fabrics. I've had these pencils for a few years, and more or so just avoid using them. I am writing this review years later to mention that now that I need to sharpen them. I have nothing to sharpen them with. I really feel if your going to be selling pencils that are bigger than average sharpeners that perhaps including one would be a good idea, as now I'm trying to find out what to buy for these and what size they are.

Pencil won't leave a mark on fabric!
Totally useless because chalk is too hard and won't leave a mark even when pressing so hard it pulls the fabric!

Difficult to Use
I agree with the other reviewers. The colored material in these pencils is so hard that they don't seem to mark anything and they pull at the fabric while you are trying to mark. I haven't been successful in marking anything with these pencils. They are also difficult to sharpen. I won't buy these again.

useless
I purchased these marking pencils in my local store. I don't like using dressmaker's chalk since the lines are quite wide, so I thought these would be a great solution. Unfortunately, the chalk is so hard that it doesn't leave a visible mark on the fabric, which makes them quite useless. I would return them if I hadn't thrown out the receipt.

careful
Be careful in using these pencils. Not all fabrics will allow color to be removed. I made a crazy quilt with lots of different fabrics. Some of the fabrics would release the color. The red pencil doesn't come off of any fabric. The red is almost permenant or requires lots of stress to some fabrics before coming off while never coming off of other fabrics no matter how much cleaning.
