SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1/3 yard Fabric A
  • 1/3 yard Fabric B
  • Fusible Midweight Interfacing
  • Pattern Template A
  • Thread
  • Straight pins
  • Scissors
  • Sewing Machine
  • Iron

DIRECTIONS:

To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
  1. Cut (1) 10"x 26" piece of fusible midweight interfacing, and (1) 10"x 26" rectangle from fabric A. Fuse interfacing to wrong side of Fabric A per packaging instructions.
  2. Cut (1) Template A from Fabric A with interfacing attached, and (1) Template A reverse from Fabric B.
  3. Cut (1) 1"x 20" rectangle from Fabric A for tie.
  4. Fold in 1/4" on each 20" length of tie. Fold in half, press, and top stitch in place. Tie a knot in each end.
  5. Fold tie in half and pin at fold to the right side of body of pencil holder fabric A. See Template A for placement. Place fabric B piece of body of pencil holder on top, right sides together, and pin in place.
  6. With right sides together using 1/4" seam allowance, sew around outer edge of pencil case leaving a 3" opening along one side.
  7. Trim excess fabric from all 4 corners to remove bulk once turned right-side out.
  8. Turn right-side out, press flat. Top stitch side opening closed.
  9. Fold angled edge of pencil holder up using Template A as a guide. Top stitch sides in place 1/8" in from edge.
  10. Measure and mark individual pocket placements based on the specific tools you plan to hold in pencil holder. Top stitch along each dividing line, being sure to backstitch at top of pocket to reinforce the dividers.
  11. Fold top flap over, roll, and tie.
