Painted Styrofoam Zombie Bones and Hands

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Large and Small Styrofoam bones and hands
  • Paints: white, off white, light gray, tan, brown
  • Paint tray & water
  • 1" & 1/2" paintbrush
  • Natural sponge
  • Sponge dauber

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Refer to photo for shading.
  2. Paint hands/bones with a base coat of white and off white.
  3. Put a small amount of a darker color onto the wet light area and work quickly with the brush or sponge to blend and shade colors.
  4. Use dauber and natural sponge to blend in the greens and browns while the paint is still wet all over for a creepy zombie effect.
  5. Use a brush and red paint mixed with some white and yellow to paint the “wound."
  6. Use brown paint to enhance shadows on hands.
  7. Paint the fingers with a blend of greens and yellows.
  8. Paint the fingernails dark green.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • You can use the natural sponge and and light brown to paint the recesses in the bones.
  • A small handheld hair dryer can be used to dry the paint faster.
