SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 Bag of unfinished wood beads
  • 1 Bottle of each acrylic paint: mint green, coral, golden yellow, white
  • 1 Small paintbrush
  • 1 Roll of thin twine or natural cording
  • 1 Clear storage container about 5"x 5" square
  • 1 roll of foil or parchment paper

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Dived the amount of beads and styles into 4 groups.
  2. Dilute your paint to 1/3 water to 2/3 paint. Pour the paint into the storage container. Dump in the first group of beads. Shake the container until the beads are completely covered. Scoop out the beads and let them dry on a piece of foil or parchment paper.
  3. Do this same process to make each color grouping of beads. Let them dry before using them.
  4. Cut a piece of twine to the desired length. Make a knot at the base of the twine. String a few groupings of beads and then tie a large knot to keep them from sliding. Leave a space and slide on the next grouping of beads. Continue to do this process until you have made the desired length of a swag of beads.

CRAFT HACK TIPS & TRICKS:

  • Mix up the placement of the beads to prevent a pattern from happening. This keeps it looking more natural and interesting.
  • If you want the stain for the beads to look lighter, then dilute it with more water before applying it.
