SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Liquitex Acrylic Gouache Colors: Light Blue Permanent, Ultramarine Blue
- WN Galleria Short Handle Round Brush
- Triangular Shaped Palette Knife
- Canvas Zipper Pouch
- Scrap Piece of Cardboard
DIRECTIONS:
- Insert a piece of scrap cardboard between layers of pouch and smooth out flat.
- OPTIONAL - using a pencil, make light marks on the pouch to determine where you want your stars to be placed (you can even trace the palette knife.
- Using a brush, paint an even layer (not too thick) of the Light Blue Permanent color on to the palette knife, covering the entire surface. Press the painted palette knife down on to the canvas aligning with the pencil marks (if applicable). Continue this process, re-loading with paint as needed, until you've completed all the desired stars.
- Let this layer dry approximately 20 minutes to avoid smudging or smearing the paint. Use this time to clean your brush and palette knife.
- Using the brush again, paint an even layer (not too thick) of the Ultramarine Blue color on to the palette knife, covering the entire surface. Press the palette knife in between the Light Blue palette knife prints. Continue this process, re-loading with paint as needed, until you've completed all the top layer of the stars.
- Let dry until the paint is no longer tacky to the touch. Once dry, remove the cardboard.
JOANN HACKS:
- Using a scrap piece of cardboard in the pouch while stamping will allow you to push the palette knife further into the canvas in order to ensure a solid paint print.
