DIRECTIONS:

To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
  1. With Disappearing Ink Pen, mark fold lines onto 11" x 22" felt (SEE DIAGRAM 1). You will have two rows of four 5.5" x 5.5" squares. Cut along the cut line. Pinch in the center line on either side of the cut and pull out (SEE DIAGRAM 2.) Fold into a book (SEE DIAGRAM 3.)
  2. With Disappearing Ink Pen, make a quick drawing of what will go on each page for your reference, so that you make each page layout right-side up (see layout diagram). Alternately, you could make yourself a little paper model to reference while you work.
  3. Unfold the book and begin to add the page elements.
  4. For the cover page, cut out white and two triangles out of felt, glue in place with tacky glue; use embroidery floss to embellish.
  5. For Seder Plate pages, use templates to cut out one circle plate, six hook and loop tape circles, two half-circles, and two squares.
  6. Use zipper foot on sewing machine to sew the two felt squares to the top and bottom of the zipper - make sure that the bulk of the square is lying on top of the zipper. When it's sewn, fold it outward and press with iron. Then with right sides together line up one zipper edge with one half-circle edge' sew. Repeat for the other side. Press with iron and topstitch. Attach zipper pouch to page by sewing around the circle with embroidery floss.
  7. Arrange the loop-side circles of the hook and loop tape onto the remaining circle and use sewing machine to sew in place. Attach plate to page by sewing around the circle with embroidery floss.
  8. Use various felts to make the Karpas, Maror, Chazeret, Charoset, Beitzah, and Zeroah. Make the food flat with a main color and cut-out additions in another felt color glued on. Trace the food shape onto a matching felt and use sewing machine to attach the hook side of the hook and loop circle to the right-side of the felt food backing. Attach the backing to the main food piece by sewing around the edges with embroidery floss.
  9. For Matching Matzo Shape pages, use shape templates to cut out two felts of each shape. Follow instructions on the Wonder Under to attach Wonder Under to Matzo Print Cotton Fabric, cut out, and sandwich a piece of ribbon in between Matzo Cotton and matching felt shape, and adhere the Matzo Cotton to the matching felt shape. Repeat for remaining three shapes. Attach remaining four felt shapes to the page by sewing on with embroidery floss. Then, match up each shape and use sewing machine to secure other end of the ribbon to the opposite page, where it will be covered by the pocket. Cut out pocket and attach to page with embroidery floss.
  10. For grape snap pages, attach sew-on snaps to buttons by hand sewing. Position the buttons into a grape bunch arrangement, and trace around buttons onto page with disappearing ink pen. Sew on the corresponding snaps to the center of each circle. Then fold green ribbon, form into leaves at the top of the grape bunch and sew into place with sewing machine.
  11. Cut out basket pieces according to template. Glue felt strips onto main basket piece in a woven pattern. Attach handle to the main basket placing each handle end closer to the center of the basket and securing in place with embroidery floss. Attach basket to page with embroidery floss.
  12. Pinch out the center folds of the book, once again, and reform felt into a book. Use straight pins to secure the pages in place. Once the book is folded and pinned, use a ruler and cutter to trim the inner pages of the book as needed. Then, use embroidery floss to sew around each square of the book, securing pages together.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a Beginner Level Project I have seen sewing for over 70 years and this particular pattern is entirely too complicated for a beginner level sewist. I have made hundreds of fabric books and have never seen one made where you cut "SOMEWHERE" and pinch it out to make a book. More photos in the instructions would have been extremely helpful.
