SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- McCalls Pattern M8162
- 1 1/2yd 56"-58" dark denim
- 1 1/2yd 56"-58" light denim
- 1 1/8yd lightweight interfacing
- Notions: 7" zipper, thread, Gold Jeans Topstitching thread, Topstitching Needles 14/90
- 1 set Overall Buckles with No-Sew Buttons
- 5/8" button or 1 set waistband hook and eye (optional)
- Sewing machine
- Basic sewing supplies
DIRECTIONS:

NOTE: Pattern pieces will be cut from the right side of ONE layer of fabric.
- Lay out fabric in a single layer with the right side up.
- Use the following pieces with the printed side UP for the RIGHT half of the garment: 1,6,9.
- Use the following pieces with the printed side DOWN for the LEFT half of the garment: 4,12.
- Also cut one: 3,10,14.
- Lay out the fabric in a single layer with the right side up.
- Use the following pieces with the printed side UP for the RIGHT half of the garment: 4,12.
- Use the following pieces with the printed side DOWN for the LEFT side of the garment: 1,6,9.
- Also cut one: 3 and cut two pieces each from: 8,13.
- Cut the following pieces from light AND from dark denim (total 12 pieces): 2 pc. 1 5/8"x 6"; 1 pc. 2 1/8"x 6; 2 pc. 1 5/8"x 3; 1 pc. 2 1/8"x 3.
- Sew short ends of 3" pieces to 6" pieces matching widths and using opposite colors.
- Press seams toward light color.
- Using project image for reference and having wider strips at each end, alternate colors and sew strips together.
- Press seams to one side.
- Center upper pocket pattern piece on patchwork and trim.
- Set aside to use in steps 43-47 of instructions.
- Transfer pattern symbols to fabric.
- Follow pattern instructions, using Gold Jeans Thread for topstitching.
The printed side of a pattern piece will be the RIGHT side of the garment.
Turn the printed side down for the LEFT side of the garment.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:
- Use regular thread in the bobbin and a topstitching needle for best results. Do not backstitch, pull threads to the back and tie.
- If a second sewing machine is available, have one threaded for topstitching.
- A sew-on hook and eye for waistbands can be used instead of the button and buttonhole option.
