Cont even in pat until armhole measures 8½ (9-9-9½) ins [21.5 (23-23-24) cm] ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off. Place markers for shoulders 18 (18-19-19) sts in from side edges.

 

FRONT Work from ** to ** as given for Back. Dec 1 st each end of needle on next and following 2 alt rows. 72 (80-84- 90) sts. Work 1 row even.

 

Neck shaping: Next row: Work 2tog. Pat across 31 (35-37-40) sts. K2tog. K1 (neck edge). Turn. Leave rem sts on a spare needle. Next row: P2. Pat to end of row Next row: Work 2tog. Pat to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1. Rep last 2 rows 0 (3-4-6) times more. 32 (30-30-29) sts. Next row: P2. Pat to end of row. Next row: Pat to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1. Rep last 2 rows 11 (9-7-6) times more. 20 (20-22-22) sts. FINISHING

Pin garment pieces to measurements and cover with a damp cloth. Press lightly with a steam iron. Remove cloth when dry. Sew shoulder seams. Place markers on front and back side edges 4¼ ins [11 cm] up from lower edge. Sew side seams to markers.
