SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- One piece of 12"x 18" stiff white felt
- One piece of 9"x 12" white felt
- Two pieces of 9"x 12" dark blue felt
- One piece of 9"x 12" light blue felt
- Yarn
- 15" pompom fringe trim = red
- 15" pompom fringe trim = light blue
- 5/16"x 36" wood dowel
- Scissors
- Fabric Fusion [optional]
- Glue gun
- Coping saw, or small hand saw
DIRECTIONS:
- This project creates one 12"x 14" patriotic felt pennant.
- To find the downloadable pattern click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
- Print the patterns provided and cut the base of the banner from the stiff white felt. Continue using the patterns to cut the white, dark blue, and light blue felt pieces.
- Lay out and double-check the fit of the felt pieces before gluing. Glue the large dark blue rectangle first. Glue the light and dark blue vertical stripes working from the middle outward. Add the white horizontal stripes and the star last.
- Position pom pom fringe starting from the center, working outward. Hot glue and trim excess.
- Use a coping saw to cut the dowel rod to 13" long.
- Hot glue top edge of the pennant to wood dowel, make and add pompom(s) or tassel(s).
JOANN HACKS:
- Leave your stripes long and trim to the diagonal of the pennant edge after gluing.
