SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1 1/2yd Fabric of Choice
- 1/2yd Fusible Interfacing
- Matching 5/8" Buttons (6)
- Scissors
- Matching Thread
- Pins
- Ruler/Measuring Tape
- Pattern Paper (For Pattern Adjustments)
- Pattern McCall's #8091
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut out skirt pattern pieces 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, and 15.
- Shorten placket piece #15 to be same length as skirt front # 10.
- Midriff piece #9 will become the waistband.
- Extend waistband piece to meet placket at fold line plus add seam allowance.
- Match notch closest to center front on waistband then add extension and seam allowance.
- Sew using pattern instructions starting at step #22.
- Follow all directions for sewing skirt.
- Add placket to skirt before adding waistband.
- Eliminate steps adding bodice.
- Top button on skirt should be on waistband going horizontal. All other buttons should go vertical.
JOANN HACKS:
- This is an easy pattern to transition dress into skirt, since it already has waistband built it.
- Look for similar patterns when trying to make a top or skirt from a dress pattern.
- Determine number of buttons based on length of skirt- buttons should be between 4-5" apart.
