Crafting together has mental health benefits for kids individually & benefits the parent/child relationship, as well. For a child, making a project like this one can be gratifying & build self-esteem. Working alongside their caregiver, they feel connected & appreciated, especially when they don’t feel pressured to do things exactly “right”. As they work together, they can have healthy conversations about anything – even those difficult topics that might otherwise be hard to discuss.

- Chenille stems (9)
- Perler Beads
DIRECTIONS:
- FLOWER STEM:
- Choose 3 chenille stems. Twist them together at the top to secure them together. Next, braid the 3 Choose three strands together and then twist to hold the braid in place.
- LEAF:
- Repeat the above steps with an additional 3 chenille stems.
- Bend the braided stem into a figure 8 shape. Twist the ends together to secure the shape in place. Bend the figure 8 around the stem from the middle to create leaves.
- PETALS:
- Choose 3 chenille stems for the petals.
- Thread several Perler beads on each stem. Beads can be threaded on with no gap between them or with gaps for a different effect.
- Create a figure 8 with each beaded chenille stem.
- Bend and twist the ends of the 8 closed on each to secure the shape.
- Hold the petals together at the center and wrap and twist each petal to the others to form a flower shape.
- FINISH:
- Hold the stem up to the center of the flower and twist the flower petals again now encasing the stem. Fan out petals if needed to form desired shape.
