SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Assortment of fabric trims: lace, braided, fringe
- Throw pillow 10"x 10"
- Thick cotton fabric
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun/glue sticks
- Sewing needle & thread
- Sewing pins
DIRECTIONS:
- Begin by measuring and cutting a 14"x 28" piece of thick cotton fabric to create the pillow sham.
- Fold piece of fabric in half so it is 14"x 14", with the wrong side of the fabric facing out.
- Use sewing pins to attach fabric together before stitching. The stitched square should measure about 11"x 11". Using a basic stitch, sew the ends and sides of fabric together, making sure that the 10"x 10" will fit inside the sham. Leave about 6" of the perimeter unstitched.
- Turn the sham inside out so the right side of the fabric is on the outside.
- Fold pillow in half and put through the 6" gap in the perimeter.
- Sew remaining 6" of perimeter to enclose the pillow.
- Cut various styles of trim in 10 1/2" pieces.
- Braid strips of trim together to create depth and variation.
- Attach trim in layers down the front of the pillow using hot glue gun.
- Attach a strip of fringe trim to the left and right sides of the pillow edges with hot glue.
