SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Wrapping paper ribbon
- Cardboard tube (toilet paper roll)
- Foam sheets, assorted colors
- Small candy & toys
- Pencil
- Ruler or straight edge
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun/glue gun sticks
- Thin yarn
- Tissue paper
DIRECTIONS:
- Stand the cardboard roll up on a piece of foam paper and trace the circumference with a pencil. Cut the circle out. Hot glue the circle to an end of the cardboard roll.
- Fill tube with candy and toys.
- Cut out strips of tissue paper. They should be around 4" wide and long enough to wrap the circumference of the cardboard tube.
- Glue the strip of tissue paper around the roll by running a strip of hot glue about 1" up from the bottom of the opposite end that you glued the foam. Wrap the paper around, gather the paper and lightly twist it.
- Cut a piece of ribbon and tie a knot.
- Cut out strips of foam from the foam sheets. They should be around 1 1/2" wide and long enough to wrap the circumference of the cardboard tube. You will need five for each pinata. Make thin cuts in the foam short-ways, cutting around 1" up the foam.
- Glue the strips of foam to the roll. Start with the bottom where the tissue paper is. Place glue in the area you did not cut in and wrap the tube. Glue the next strip above the first, overlapping the other one about a half in. Repeat.
- Before you attach the top foam strip, cut two pieces of yarn, about 4" long, and glue them around the top, across from each other. Then glue the top the to the tube to hide the ends of the yarn.
- Cut yarn to desired length of garland. Cut 9 even pieces, divide them into three, and braid to create a thicker string.
- Tie the pinatas to the garland with the strips of yarn.
