SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Thin Wood Planks
  • Evergreen Garland
  • Wire Cutters
  • Assorted Holiday Floral (Berries, Greenery)
  • Floral Wire
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Ribbon

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Use scissors to cut thin wood planks into 6" pieces. Each star will require 20 wood pieces.
  2. Arrange (10) 6" wood pieces into a star shape and use hot glue to attach the wood planks at each point where the two planks meet. Use hot glue to attach another layer of wood planks over top of the star design to make the wood frame stronger.
  3. Use wire cutters to trim individual evergreen pieces off of garland. Wrap the evergreen pieces around the wood star shape, making sure to cover the wood completely with the greenery. Bend the wire of the greenery to wrap around the wood.
  4. Use wire cutters to cut holiday floral picks apart into smaller pieces. Layer holiday greenery and berries over top of the star frame and wrap floral wire to attach the picks to the frame. Use hot glue to attach additional pieces of berries and greenery to hide any exposed wire or wood on the frame.
  5. Cut a piece of 24" ribbon for the top to hang the star wreath. Loop ribbon through the top point in the star and then use hot glue to attach the ribbon to the top of the wreath so the tails can tie the wreath to the top of a chair.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Add dimension to the wreath by allowing some stems to stick out from the front of the wreath, and also keep some flowers close to the base of the wreath.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Vague Directions I really thought I would enjoy making these star wreaths! I looked at the directions and they are to vague. What kind of wood planks? How much greenery is needed? How big are they? Disappointed!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Vague information It would be nice if the supply list was more clear. What exactly are “thin wood planks“? How long are they? What kind of wood? How wide are they? This information would be very helpful. I have run into this same problem with other projects on your website!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It would be helpful to have a star template provided in the in the proper shape to accommodate the 6" wood sizes as part of the downloaded instructions. It's not easy to assemble 10 sticks into a star shape with equidistant sides & angles.
