  1. Using McCall's pattern M7850 Pattern D, cut out pieces per pattern instructions.
  2. Using the additional 1/2 yard of glitter tulle, cut additional pattern piece 2, 12, and 15.
  3. With right sides up, layer additional glitter tulle pieces over the main body fabric of pattern pieces 2 and 12. Baste all the way around each piece. Treat each layered and basted piece as a single piece moving forward and follow pattern instructions until attaching the skirt.
  4. Finish hem edge of sheer skirt pattern piece 15 per pattern instructions. Trim away 1" along outer edge of additional glitter tulle skirt pattern piece 15. Layer tulle over sheer skirt and baste together along top edge.
  5. Continue with pattern instructions to complete costume.
  6. To create the wings, cut 1 and 1 reverse of templates A and B from white glitter foam. Cut 1 and 1 reverse of templates C and F from green glitter foam. Cut 2 each of templates D, E, G, and H from yellow glitter foam.
  7. Adhere foam pieces A and B to excess sheer shirt fabric. Trim along edges of foam. Layer piece C on top of A, and E on top of C. Piece D is centered in the tear drop opening in piece C. Place circles F, G, and H on piece B. Cut a 1"x 1.5" rectangle and 1"x 1" square from green foam. Attach wings to the corners of the rectangle, then place the square over the exposed adhesive on the rectangle.
  8. Cut a 1.5"x 3" rectangle of fabric from left over fabric used for overskirt piece 16. Fold under edges and place over the center of wings. Tack top and bottom edge of fabric rectangle to back of costume, 1/2" above the skirt.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Hot glue works just as well to attach the wings to this costume.
