Plaid Flannel Pillows

Plaid Pillows (14"x 14")

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Plaid flannel material 
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Pillow form

DIRECTIONS:

  1. To make a 14"x 14" pillow cut a piece of flannel 16"x 35"
  2. Use 1/2" seam allowance.
  3. Fold short ends over 1/2" and then 1/2" again to make hem. Press and sew to finish hem.
  4. Lay fabric right side up and fold short ends towards center overlapping finished ends and matching plaids on sides. Double check size of pillow making sure the finished pillow matches the size of your pillow form.
  5. Sew sides of pillow case making sure the center is overlapped to make an envelope back.
  6. Turn right side out and press before inserting pillow form.

JOANN HACKS:

  • When laying out fabric to sew together make sure the plaid matches where seams will be sewn. Pin carefully to line up plaid.

  1. To make a 16"x 16" pillow cut a piece of flannel 18"x 39"
  2. Use 1/2" seam allowance.
  3. Fold short ends over 1/2" and then 1/2" again to make hem. Press and sew to finish hem.
  4. Lay fabric right side up and fold short ends towards center overlapping finished ends and matching plaids on sides. Double check size of pillow making sure the finished pillow matches the size of your pillow form.
  5. Sew sides of pillow case making sure the center is overlapped to make an envelope back.
  6. Turn right side out and press before inserting pillow form.

  4. Lay fabric right side up and fold short ends towards center overlapping finished ends and matching plaids on sides. Double check size of pillow making sure the finished pillow matches the size of your pillow form.
