- Project image is View A (shortened 4 1/2" for mini skirt length) with the waistband from View B 1.
- Choose size and shorten length of pieces 1 and 2 by cutting or folding on the horizontal line on the pattern tissue.
- Fold the side edge of lower portion in line with the top portion.
- Check that side seams of 1 and 2 match and are the same length as the rest of the skirt.
- Cut out pieces 1, 2, 3, and 4 from fabric.
- Match plaids at side seams.
- Cut 3 and 4 from interfacing and iron on to fabric 3 and 4.
- Transfer tissue markings to fabric.
- Follow step 1 to stitch pleats and sew right side seam of skirt.
- Follow instructions for view B for waistband, zipper and finishing left side seam.
- Clean finish lower edge and hem skirt.
- Glue foam to headband.
- With scissors, trim width of foam even with headband and taper thickness to 1/2" near the ends.
- Measure distance around headband at center.
- Cut fabric this measurement plus 1/4" x length of headband plus 1 1/2".
- Beginning at center, wrap fabric to the back and glue at center back.
- Edges will just meet or slightly overlap.
- Trim fabric as the sides narrow.
- Trim and fold edges in at ends.
- Fold ends of ribbon in and glue over seam on back.
Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:
- Batting may be used instead of foam; glue several layers on the headband to form 1" of padding.
- Cutting the material for the headband on the bias (diagonally) will allow for more stretch and ease in covering the headband.
