- Prior to uploading your photos or images in Customizer, use an image design tool (software or web-based) to create a collage of your images. This will allow you to easily upload all images into one design to be printed on JOANN Customizer fabric.
- The size of your image will impact the size of your design. For 150 pixels, you'll get one inch of printed design. The higher the dots per inch (dpi), the bigger and better quality image you will have. Calculate your project needs with 1" = 150 pixels. Images used in this project are 4” x 6”.
Image Size | Pixels Needed |
1 inch | 150 pixels |
2 inches | 300 pixels |
4 inches | 600 pixels |
6 inches | 900 pixels |
- Upload your collage of photos or images to JOANN Customizer, select a fabric type, and order the fabric to be printed. This project uses Satin and Minky Customizer fabrics.
- This book will consist of two double sided panels sewn together along the spine.
- Cut out image panels along outer edges of print frame. Cut and baste batting to WS of image panels, 1/8" from edges. Topstitch from top to bottom between panels. Quilt perimeter of image and inside edge of print border. Repeat.
- Determine layout of book pages. Place panels RST. Check direction of image prior to stitching. Sew 1/4" SA around perimeter leaving 3 1/2" opening 2" from bottom right corner. Trim corners. TRSO. Press out corners with dowel or chopstick. Fold in opening to match seam. Press stacked edges. Hand stich opening closed. Press. Line up center, between print frame on both sides of panel. Topstitch. Sew from the front/back side of outer panel and from the inside of the inner panel.
- Stack panels lining up center topstitch (break between print frames, spine). Sew from top to bottom directly on top of center (spine) topstitch.
JOANN HACKS:
- When quilting borders leave length of thread at beginning and end of stitching. Use a hand needle to pull front stitch through to the back of the panel to secure stitching.
