SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Two skeins Caron® Jumbo™ yarn: picnic
- U.S. size 7 crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)
- Stitch marker
- 18" square pillow form
- MEASUREMENTS: Approx 18" square.
- GAUGE: 12.5 sc and 14 rows = 4"
DIRECTIONS:
NOTES:Obtaining exact stitch and row gauge is critical for successful planned pooling to achieve the pattern shown in photo.
When worked to gauge, each color in sequence should create a specific number of sc as follows:
Make sure to achieve exact number of sc with colored section of yarn so that last pull through leaves loop of new color in sequence on hook, adjusting gauge throughout as necessary.
At beg of each row, do not ch 1, simply pull up loop to new row height and continue working.
When joining new ball, join at exact point in color sequence as previous ball.
FRONT:
Ch sts to very end of a color sequence, chaining a minimum of 57 sts.
Continue working as follows, making sure to achieve specific number of sc in each color of sequence as noted above:
1st row: (RS). Beg with first color in sequence, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 55 ch. Turn, leaving rem ch unworked (rem ch will be unraveled before Finishing). Turn. 56 sc.
2nd row: 1 sc in each sc across. Turn.
Rep last row until work from beg measures 18", ending on a WS row.
Fasten off.
Unravel any rem ch from initial chain.
BACK (make 2 pieces alike):
Ribbing: Ch 8.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 7 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row until work from beg (when slightly stretched) measures 18". Fasten off.
Working from very beg of color in sequence, join with sl st to corner of work where you just fastened off. Continue working as follows, making sure to achieve specific number of sc in each color of sequence as noted above:
1st row: Turn work sideways to work along edge. Work 56 sc evenly alongside of Ribbing. Turn. PM at end of row.
2nd row: 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row until work from marker measures 10", ending on a WS row. Fasten off.
FINISHING:
Joining Front and Back: Overlap Back pieces to match Front, with ribbed sections in center to create opening to insert pillow form. With RS facing, join yarn with sl st to any corner st of Pillow. Ch 1. Working through all thicknesses, work sc evenly around 4 sides of Pillow, having 3 sc in each corner.
Fasten off.
