SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1/8yd 45" of cream white cotton fabric for headband
- 1" elastic, 4"
- Scraps of fabric from princess fabric for doll dress or 1/4yd
- Scraps of fabric from cream white cotton
- 1/2" elastic for doll headband, 2"
- Kraft paper for pattern
- Velcro®
- Pencil
- Thread
- Sewing notions
DIRECTIONS: All seams are 1/4" unless stated.
- Measure head of person needed or cut 18 1/2" for head wrap and head band.
- Cut a strip 18"x 2 1/2". Cut a strip 6 1/4"x 3 1/2". Sew strip length leaving ends open. Turn and press. Insert 1" elastic to both ends.
- Sew bow ends together, turn leaving ends open, Fold end of bow to the center. Stich to secure. Fold a scrap 1"x 1 1/2" for tie for the center of bow. Wrap around the center of bow cutting off any excess. Attach to headband.
- 18" Doll
- Doll shirt:
- Front: 6" across x 6" square. Fold square in half, becomes the center front. From the outside line, measure down 2 1/2" from the top of square, draw a line across. Pencil in 3/4" vertical line. This is the beginning of armhole. At the center front line fold line, measure over 1" and down 3/4". Pencil in a curve for the neckline. Draw in a slant line of 1 3/4" for shoulder. Shape a curve line from shoulder line to create an armhole. Repeat the same for the back except add a 1/4" to center back for a seam allowance.
- Sleeve: Draw at square 4'x 2 1/2". Fold in half. At the edge and measure up 2". Make a curve line making a cap to the fold line.
- Bottom sleeve flare: Create an inner circle using a pill canister. It should measure width of the sleeve. Add an outside circle by 1 3/8" to make the flare. Cut the circle open for a seam allowance. Attach the flare to sleeve bottom. Sew center back, leaving an opening of 2", shoulders, sleeves and sides. Hem shirt, flare. Cut a bias strip to complete the neckline. Add a small piece of Velcro to neck closure.
- Headband: Cut 10 1/2"x 2". Cut Bow 3 1/2"x 2". Follow instruction for sewing in Steps 2 & 3.
