SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 100% Cotton fabric
  • 100% Jersey knit for ties
  • Pattern template (download PDF)
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Download the pattern by clicking “download PDF" below Print Description.
  2. Cut pattern pieces from your fabric. The larger pieces should be cut on the fabric fold, the fold going with the grain of the fabric.
  3. Open the folded fabric pieces.

  4. Find the center of the more exaggerated curved edge of the nose piece and match it to the straight edge of the main piece. Beginning in the center of the main piece (where the fabric was folded), pin the nose piece to the main piece, right sides together. The straight edge of the main piece will follow the curve of the nose piece.

  5. Stitch the nose piece onto the main piece using a 1/8" seam allowance.
  6. Fold the main piece in half again on the original fold line, right sides together. Sew the chin dart together with a 1/4" seam allowance.
  7. Iron flat the dart seams to the same direction.

  8. Place the two pieces right sides together and pin along the top and bottom edges. The seam around the nose piece should be going up towards the nose edge.

  9. To make ties: Cut 4 strips of fabric 1 1/2"x 18".  Fold fabric in half lengthwise, right sides together and sew 1/4" seam. Turn right side out. Finish ends of ties by sewing closed or tying knots in ends of tie.
  10. Pin raw edge of ties to inside corner of mask at side seams. Gather ties and place in center of mask. Sew around mask using 1/2" seam allowance leaving a 3" wide opening on lower edge to turn.
  11. Turn mask right side out and press.
  12. Top stitch 1/4" around edge of mask.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pattern! Free pattern?! Yes please. Great design, my partner who wears glasses says it doesn’t fog them up as much as regular masks. Made this out of a cotton linen blend and got so many compliments!
