SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- (2) 18" x 12.5" x 9.5" (or similar size) wooden crates
- Cotton duck canvas fabric
- Balsa wood, cut to 16"x 6"
- Rotary cutter and/or fabric scissors
- Compass or round household object
- Heavy duty double sided mounting tape
- Hot glue
- Long ruler
- Mint acrylic paint
- White acrylic paint
- Chalkboard paint
- Pencil
- Craft paint brushes
- Purchase from local hardware store:
- (1) piece of 1" x 10" x 6' wood board, cut into 2 lengths that measure 25"
- (1) piece of .75" x 1.5" x 8' wood board, cut into 2 lengths that measure 48"
- (2) pieces of .75" x 1.5" x 6' wood board, cut to lengths of 46" and 26.5" (4 lengths total after cuts with scraps)
- Screwdriver and screws
- Clamps
- FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
- 26.5" x 10" x 49.5"
DIRECTIONS:
- Paint the wooden crates, inside and out, with mint craft paint. Let dry.
- Paint the 6" x 16" piece of balsa with chalkboard paint and let dry.
- Paint all of the remaining wood pieces with white craft paint and let dry.
- Cut a piece of cotton duck cloth to 30.5" x 16", referencing the diagram for additional cut marks. You can use a compass and pencil to make circles or use a round household object - such as a bowl that measures around 5.3" - to trace circles to create the scalloped edge. Start from the center and work outward. Draw a straight line from the top crease of each circle to create stripes. Alternate natural canvas with painted mint stripes.
- Clamp the two wooden crates together, and attach with screws and a screwdriver. Attach the two 25" pieces of 1" x 10" to the top and bottom of the crates, with a .5" overhang on the front of the crates. The 25" pieces should sit flush to the back. Attach with screws.
- Clamp the (2) pieces of .75" x 1.5" x 48" wood board flush to the sides of the back of the crates and the (2) pieces of .75" x 1.5" x 42" to the sides of the front of the crates so that the crates are lifted 3" off the ground. Attach with screws.
- Lay a 26.5" piece of .75" x 1.5" across the top of the front and back supports to make a horizontal bar in front and back for the duck cloth roof to rest on. Attach with screws.
- Center the scalloped edge duck cloth on top of the structure. Fold the side wings down and attach to the front/back horizontal support bars with hot glue. Attach the heavy duty mounting tape to the front of the front horizontal support bar and the back of the back horizontal support bar. Carefully fold down the duck cloth to secure.
- Attach the chalkboard sign to the front of the crate stand with hot glue.
- Use a paintbrush and paint to touch up where the screws were drilled in or leave exposed.
JOANN HACKS:
- The wood boards can be picked up from any local hardware store that carries lumber.
- For a faster result, spray paint can be used instead of acrylic craft paint. Proper ventilation and adult supervision are required.

- Paint brushes
- Fleece fabric in desired colors, 1/4 yard each
- Pins
- Needle & thread
- Scissors
- Glass jar
- Paper treat cups
DIRECTIONS:
PAPER POPSICLES / RECTANGLE
- Print the provided template onto desired colors of cardstock, using several colors that will be layered together to form the body and long oval details on top.
- Cut at the dotted lines, score at the solid lines, and fold together.
- Hot glue a folded square of paper or pom pom that’s around 1/2" to both sides of the center of the folded box around 1.5" up. This will anchor the popsicle stick in place so it doesn’t wiggle once inserted.
- Use double sided craft tape or glue of choice to secure popsicle body shut.
- Insert popsicle stick into slit cut into bottom and hot glue in place.
- Cut out 4 long oval pieces in an analogous color to the popsicle body, and secure to top of popsicle with hot glue or craft tape.
PAPER POPSICLES / ROUND
- Cut out 3 pieces of paper as follows: blue - 4.5" x 6.5", white - 3" x 6.5", red - 1.5" x 6.5". Place the TP roll insert on top of the blue paper, trace a circle, and cut out. Repeat with red paper. Cut a slit that measures .75" into the center of the blue circle.
- Hot glue a pom pom that’s around 3/4" to the inside of the toilet paper roll about 1.5" up on both sides.
- Starting with the blue paper - wrap the toilet paper roll so it is completely covered and secure with tape or hot glue. Repeat with the white paper over the blue so that the top edges of the popsicle body are aligned. Repeat with the red paper over the white.
- Hot glue the blue circle to the base of the popsicle.
- Hot glue the red circle to the top.
- Insert popsicle stick into slit cut into bottom and hot glue in place.
POPSICLE TRAY
- Hot glue 2 dowel rods 1/8" into the tray or box lid around every 2 1/2". Do a test by placing a popsicle in between the two dowel rods to achieve the desired angle for the popsicles to stand.
- Paint the tray and let dry. Place popsicles in stand.
DOG BONE TOYS & JAR
- Print and cut out two of the provided bone templates.
- Use double sided craft tape to secure them temporarily to fabric in desired colors.
- Cut fabric along the edges of the paper template.
- Place two of the same size bone shapes facing each other.
- Fill with scraps of fabric and sew edges together with a needle and thread if a furry friend will be enjoying as a toy. Hot glue is a faster alternative if bone is for decoration only.
- Repeat for additional bones. Fill jar and decorate with paper treat cups.
JOANN HACKS:
- When working with color, analogous hues sit next to each other on the color wheel. For example, red next to orange or yellow next to green. To create the illusion of indents on the popsicle, use a darker analogous hue to add the details to the outside of your shape.
- Hot glue and craft knives should only be used with adult supervision.
