DIRECTIONS:
NOTE: All seams are 5/8" unless stated.- Trace view D front and back skirt onto Kraft paper. Draw a line across the hip line, cut, spread 1 3/4". This is to bring the skirt up higher as the pattern is below the waistline. Eliminate the #7 & #8 yoke and the 1 1/4" hem line.
- Using View D, cut out skirt, batting, lining and muslin or cotton fabric. Cut skirt pattern larger all around than pattern in package. Adding 1" extra all around while quilting helps in handling. Cut off excess when quilting is complete.
- Place batting on top of muslin or cotton fabric then place floral fabric on top of batting. Pin all three thicknesses together or baste so that when sewing the under fabric doesn't move while sewing. Draw a straight line at the center front and back from waist to hem. Measure and mark vertical lines 1" across until reaching the side seams.
- Sew straight lines until quilting is complete. Remove pins or basting.
- Place pattern back on the fabric, cut to size, trim off any excess that was added. Sew darts.
- Cut 45"x 6" for ruffle at the waistline out of floral fabric. Gather ruffle to fit the waistline of the skirt. Attach gathered ruffle to skirt, add lining, zipper.
- Cut out of blue fabric a 1 1/2" bias strip to attach to the hem line, finishing 3/8".
- Cut out of blue fabric for belt 56"x 6" (piecing belt is fine), cut interfacing 56"x 3", press to inside belt.
- Sew right sides together, leaving an opening for turning. Turn right sides out, press hand stitch opening closed.
- Cut four belt loops 7"x 3". Fold loops in half, top stitch on fold line, turn under the edges 1/4" each, top stitch closed. Attach to skirt at ruffle with a 5/8" turn under seam, measure down 3", attach to skirt with a 5/8" turn under.
