DIRECTIONS:
-
Four Panels: finish size 20"x 25" each
- Cut 8 pieces of cotton backing fabric: 21"x 26"
- Project the patterns on to paper. Add 1/2" to any edge of applique that will land along a side of the quilted panel. Cut out the applique parts keeping the rest of each rectangle as a guide to locate appliques.
- Rough cut color fabric for appliques and apply fusible web to the back of each. Transfer applique shape onto each color panel and cut. Fuse appliques on to backing fabric. Satin stitch around each edge of applique using coordinating color of thread.
- Lay all panels side by side. Determine locations of quilting stitching. Draw, with a marking pen, lines for stitching that mimic the applique shapes.
- Apply a small bead of Fray Block to raw edges of each panel. Allow to dry.
- Cut 4 pieces of batting: 21"x 26".
- Layer one backing fabric WS up, batting then a panel with applique RS up.
- Pin along edges and along each of the lines for quilting. Sew wide stitches along all quilting lines.
- Fold back all raw edges of panels and stitch close to edges.
- Project images to be embroidered on to quilted panels.
- Determine stitching to be used on each of the panels. Consider full filled embroidered leaves beside outline embroidered leaves.
- When all embroidery is complete, flip panels and apply felt patches. Cut felt to cover embroidery stitches. Apply a small bead of Liquid Stitch close to edges of felt and random lines within the center of the felt. Press felt in place.
