SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 2 3/4yds light pink cotton gauze
- 1yd olive green cotton gauze
- 2yds hot pink cotton for binding OR two packs of hot pink double fold quilt binding
- 1'x 7.25' low loft cotton batting
- Cotton thread in coordinating colors
- Straight pins
- Rotary cutter
- Acrylic ruler
- Self-healing mat
- Iron
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
DIRECTIONS:
- Iron pre-washed cotton gauze. Cut (32) 5"x 5" pink squares. Cut (31) green squares. Cut (1) 12"x 7' length of light pink cotton gauze.
- Stitch your two packs of pink double fold quilt binding together at the short ends and press seam open. If you're making your own binding, cut as many 2" wide strips as you need to complete 17' feet of binding.
- Create 4 nine-patch blocks with pink crosses and green corners and 3 nine-patch blocks with green crosses and pink corners. Build one block at a time, trimming it up so that it's square, and then stitching each block together to form your quilt top.
- Layer your light pink cotton, your cotton batting, and then your quilt top so that all edges match up. Pin together generously.
- Quilt layers together with diagonal lines that form a diamond pattern, starting from the center and working your way out to each end. Remove pins and trim edges.
- Stitch binding to edge so that it overlaps near a corner. Press flat and trim loose threads.
