SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Pattern Burda 6351
- Fabric and materials required for size desired, according to pattern
- 1/2yd of white material for pieced design
- 1/4yd of green material for pieced design
- Scissors
- Tailor’s chalk or removable ink pen
- Tape
- Ruler
- Paper
- Basic sewing supplies
- Sewing machine
- Iron
DIRECTIONS:
- Create a 7" circle template.
- Cut 1 circle and a 2 1/2" stripe the width of the jacket back out of white. Cut 2 semi-circles (folding template in half) out of green.
- Sew the center back seam of the jacket and press seams open.
- Arrange shapes along center back seam of jacket and trace outlines in tailor’s chalk/washable pen. Mark 1/2" inside all shapes, and cut on inside lines.
- Reinforce seam above and below cut shapes with sewing machine.
- Using a 1/4" seam allowance, sew white and green shapes to openings on jacket back, right-sides together.
- Press seams open on wrong-side, and then press well on right-side of jacket to smooth out inserted pieces.
- Mark quilting lines across back of jacket that are 2" apart. Topstitch on quilting lines, stopping and starting around pieced areas.
- Continue constructing the jacket, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
