DIRECTIONS:
- You can use a rotary cutter, ruler and mat to cut your pieces or scissors
- Cut 14 - 2 ½’
” squares of color A - Cut 16 - 2 ½’ squares of color B
- Cut 2 rectangles of lining fabric 10 ½
” x 6 ½’ - Cut 2 rectangles of batting 10 ½
” x 6 ½” - Use ¼
” seam allowances - Create a 5 square by 3 square rectangle using the 2 ½
” squares for the front and back of the pouch and press - Attach batting to both pieces and quilt as desired
- Lay one lining piece right
side up andplace the zipper on the top edge face up - Lay front quilted piece face down on lining sandwiching the zipper between the two pieces
- Pin and sew zipper to top of pouch, using a zipper foot, fold fabrics right
side out andtopstitch fabric close to zipper - Lay piece flat and pin back piece of lining and back quilted piece to zipper, making sure that the front and back quilted pieces are right
side stogether and sew, using a zipper foot, fold fabrics rightside out andtopstitch - Open zipper
half way and pin linings rightside stogether and front and back quilted pieces rightside stogether (If zipper is not left open, you will be unable to turn your pouch rightside out ) - Sew around
edges of pouch leaving a 3” opening on the lining to turn - Turn right
side out and press - Hand stitch opening of lining closed

4yd s black and white seersucker fabric - 1/

4yd white cotton 1yd low loft cotton batting- 7yds black twill tape
- Coordinating cotton thread for fabric
- Black cotton thread for strap
- Cutting mat
- Rotary cutter
- Acrylic ruler
- Straight

DIRECTIONS:
- Cut (4) 18"x 22" pieces from seersucker cotton for
side panels. Cut (1) 12 1/2"x 14" piece from seersucker cotton for back of pocket. Cut (2) 2"x 22" strips from seersucker cotton. - Cut (2) 18"x 22" pieces from cotton batting. Cut (1) 12"x 14" piece of cotton batting.
- Cut (6) 4"x 4" seersucker squares, four 3 1/2"x 3 1/2" seersucker squares, (1) 2"x 12 1/2" cut of seersucker so that you get short stripes to frame the bottom of the pocket.
- Cut (2) 4"x 4" squares of white, green, aqua, and teal cotton. Cut
each 4"x 4" square in half diagonally. You'll only use 3out of 4 triangles. - Cut one 1 1/2"x 12 1/2" strip of green cotton to bind top of pocket.
- Arrange your triangles right
side s facing in the pattern shown in the photo above. Stitch your half-square trianglestogether , ensuring your stripes are facing the right direction. Press seams open or to darkerside , whichever you prefer and trim your ears. Each half-square triangle should measure 3.5. - Stitch your half-square triangles
into rows, along with your 3 1/2"x 3 1/2" squares where applicable. Then stitch your rowstogether to finish your quiltblock . Trim it to measure 12"x 12". Stitch your 2"x 12 1/2" to the bottom of the 12"x 12" quiltblock . Trimends . Press seams open or to oneside . - Place your 12"x 12" cotton batting on top of your 12 1/2"x 12 1/2" seersucker cotton. Then
place your 12"x 12" quiltblock on top of batting with rightside facing up. Pintogether andbaste . Quilttogether using vertical matchstickquilting . Removepins . Trimextra seersuckeredges . - Place
long edge of green cotton strip along top of front edge of 12"x 12"block and edge stitch with about 1/4" seam allowance. Fold green strip up and press along seam. Flip yourblock to the backside . Fold top edge of green striptowards you about 1/4" and press. Then foldtowards youagain and press down. Use aladder stitch to secure it to the backside of the pocketblock . Trimends . Set aside . - To make one tote panel, sandwich a piece of 18"x 22" batting between (2) 18"x 22" pieces of seersucker. Pin and
baste . Quilttogether using vertical matchstickquilting . Repeat with second tote panel. Removepins . Trimedges , making sure the two panels areeven . Add binding to top ofeach panel using the 2"x 22" strips. - Center your pocket on one of the quilted tote panels so that the bottom of the pocket is flush with the bottom of the tote panel. Pin
together and stitch along each side near the raw edge. - Cut your 7yds of black twill tape
into foureven lengths of 5 1/4'. Place two lengths of 5 1/4' tapetogether , matchingedges , and pin. Stitch oneline down the middle from one end to theother . Repeat with theother two lengths. This will create your two handles. - Place one end of your
first handle on the bottom of your tote so that thelong edge overlaps the rawside edge of your pocket about 1/4". Pin inplace . Place theother end of the strap on theopposite side of your pocketnear the bottom, so that the inner edge of the strap overlaps theside of the pocket by about 1/4". Pin inplace . Make sure your strap isn't twisted. - Start stitching the strap to the tote panel on the in
side side strap edge from one end to the top of the panel. Once you stitch off the panel, ensure you are still stitching along the inside strap edge so that you are stitching the two pieces of the strap toeach other .Backstitch at the beginning and end. Repeat with theout side strap edge. - Add your
other strap to the second tote panel. Make sure it matches up with the straps on thefirst panel. - Place one tote panel on top of the
other with wrongside s facing so that the topedges are flush and the straps match. Pintogether . Stitch along theside s and bottom with a 1/4" seam allowance. Trimcorners andedges and turn rightside out . Push seams andcorners out and press flat. Pin and stitch along side s and edge so that the raw edgedoesn 't show. This is a French seam. - Press bottom
corners together about 1" to create aboxed bottom for the tote. Gently stitch across, adjusting for thick seam. Don't trim. Turn rightside out . - Press
boxed corners andside s and trimloose threads.
