RAINBOW TIE DYE SHIRT:
  1. Using a washable marker, mark the top and bottom arc of rainbow in desired location on the front of a pre-washed cotton t-shirt.
  2. Gather shirt by lining up marked arcs and place a rubber band at the top arc and bottom arc.
  3. Next, divide the space between bands into 7 equal segments with rubber bands (one for each color of the rainbow; ROY-G-BIV).
  4. Follow instructions on tie dye kit for mixing dyes, length of time to soak, and rinsing.
  5. Dye non-rainbow portion of shirt light blue for the sky.

CLOUD SKIRT:
  1. Cut one 52"x 25" rectangle of tulle.
  2. Fold up 10" along the 52" length and tack in place every 2" with hot glue.
  3. Fill loosely with poly-fil and tack ends closed with hot glue.
  4. Cut one 52"x 16" rectangle of tulle. Fold in half lengthwise and tack together along 52" length.
  5. Fill loosely with poly-fil and tack ends closed with hot glue.
  6. Layer shorter skirt panel on top of longer skirt panel and tack together with hot glue along top edge.
  7. Cut a 72" piece of 1 1/2" wide white grosgrain ribbon.
  8. Find center point of ribbon and skirt panels.
  9. Tack skirt panels to ribbon at center.
  10. Tack ends of skirt panels to ribbon 12" from either side of center.
  11. Gather skirt panels between ends and center tack points and tack in place on ribbon using hot glue.

SUN HEADBAND:
  1. Wrap headband with 5/8" yellow grosgrain ribbon, use hot glue to hold ends of ribbon in place.
  2. Cut 1 of Template B from yellow craft foam and 2 of Template A from goldenrod craft foam.
  3. Hot glue 2 pieces cut from template A together, hot glue piece cut from template B on top, making sure the spacing around outer edge is even.
  4. Hot glue foam sun to headband.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Because the hot glue goes through the open mesh of the tulle, work on a non-stick surface, allowing the glue to cool on the surface, then peel away. The back side of a baking sheet works well.
  • The size of the skirt can easily be adjusted up or down by lengthening or shortening the ribbon tie and width of tulle.
