  4. Baste fleece and lining circles WST 1/4" from edges.
  5. Pin rainbow fleece side panels RST at bottom edges matching corners. Sew 1/2" SA. Open seam and topstitch.

  6. Lining: RST short ends of 21"x 38 3/4" panel together, matching corners. Tight stitch 1" from corners, baste between 1" marks. Press seam open. Lay zipper RSU on opened seam. Center zipper on seam starting and stopping zipper 1" from ends. Sew zipper on with a zipper foot. Remove baste stitch.

  7. Cut belting: 1 @ 119" (handles), 2 @ 28" (Hook & D-Ring to ends of bag). Remainder 1 @ 53" (shoulder strap, adjust length to fit).

  8. Fold over one end of 119" belting 1/2" and sew. Overlap the two ends of belting 2" and sew to create a loop. Make sure there are no twists in the loop. Mark the center of the opposite side of the loop from the overlap joint.

  9. Lay rainbow fleece rectangle RSU on a flat surface. Lay Quilter’s rule to mark 5" from one side. Lay the belting on the fleece, folded end side of overlap section up. Place the overlap joint and the opposite side center of the loop onto the seam of the rainbow fleece. Line up the outer edge of the belting 5" from the side of the fleece. Pin to sew, starting and stopping 3" from the top edges of fleece. Ensure the loops of belting that extend beyond the fleece are not twisted. Repeat. Sew close to the edges of the belting.

  10. RST fleece with handles into a tube. Match top corners. Stitch tight 1/2" in from top edge 1" in from each corner and baste remaining for zipper. Place lining tube over fleece tube WST lining up center of zipper with center of seam on fleece. Match up outer edges of fabrics. Pin in place. Turn bag with lining RSO. Sew in zipper with zipper foot. Open zipper and turn bag inside out. Baste raw ends of tube together 1/4" from ends. Set aside.

  11. Disconnect hook from D-Ring. Thread 28" belting through D-Ring, matching the ends of the belting. The sides of belting will fold under at the D-Ring. Sew across the belting right under the D-Ring. Sew the ends of belting together. Repeat.

  12. Fold the open ends of the bag tube to find the quarter marks. Place the bottom seam on top of the zipper seam. Pull out the sides to mark the quarters. Fold the end circles to mark the quarter marks. Make sure that the print is vertical and level with the quarter marks.
  13. On the RS of the bag, place a D-Ring with belting at one end of the zipper. Center the belting on the zipper seam. Extend the belting with ring 1 1/2" past the raw edge of the bag tube, toward the center of the zipper. The tail of belting will extend away from the tube. Place the top center of the end circle RST with the bag, catching the belting between the bag and end. Sew 1/2" from the edge of the circle. Sew only 5" at the top of the circle, enough to catch the belting. Lay the length of belting down the center of the inside of the circle. Center the bottom edge of belting with the bottom center mark on the circle. Stitch down both sides of belting to secure. Repeat.

  14. RST match up quarter marks on the end circle with the bag tube. Sew 1/2" SA. Trim and/or zigzag stitch to finish raw edges and reduce bulk.
  15. Turn bag RSO.
  16. Fold under one end of 53" belting 1/2" and sew. Place the sewn end of belting through loop end of one shoulder strap hook. Fold end over length of belting 2" from hook loop. Stitch in place. Repeat for opposite end of strap. Adjust length to fit.

  • Directional pattern fabric: Center the pattern side to side. If a full pattern will not fit in the height of a side, keep a full image at the top of the panels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for when fleece is on sale I have not yet completed this project, but so far so good!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fleece Duffle Bag - not for the inexperienced I made this bag to try out the pattern for future projects. I am an experienced seamstress and have made many bags. The directions are not easy to follow and I had to read thru them with each step as they are not always clear until you try to do them. I like the end result but will adapt some changes before I make the next one. I left off the shoulder strap because the hardware notion is expensive compared to the bag.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from O_o Is this pattern a joke? Directions are okay, aside from the baffling 28" of belting asked for at each side with the D ring. Seems a bit much. I'd use just 2", myself. Really not sure if it's an error that the pattern is just a circle that says it should be cut at 13". The circle itself isn't even *actually* 13 inches. Absurd.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clearing up- I just wanted to pitch in some thoughts on the last review. RST- right sides together. WST- wrong sides together. The reason you don't need an opening to turn the bag right side out is because you have already put a zipper in the bag. Open the zipper to turn the bag and it will all work out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No video Saw this in the most recent ad and thought it might be fun to make with my daughter. I’m not brand new to sewing but still a novice. The ad said there was a video. I never could find that video and did not understand the directions. At least put pictures with the instructions. I also had to figure out what WST and RST together meant. Things hat were sewn RST I didn’t see instructions for leaving openings to turn them out. Maybe they didn’t need it? That would be odd, though.
