  • Glue pen
  • Cricut machine
  • Double-stick adhesive tape
  • Green Cricut mat

  1. Upload the lantern templates into Design Space.
  2. Adjust the templates to the final size you'd like the lanterns to be.
  3. Place your gold cardstock facing up on the green mat.
  4. Use the brayer roller to press the thicker gold cardstocks onto the green mat board.
  5. Cut out each lantern using the gold cardstocks.
  6. Place the cut-out lantern facedown.
  7. Cut out pieces of tissue paper for each side of the lantern. Using your glue pen, make a thin line of glue around all of the opening on one side.
  8. Place the one piece of tissue on top of the first panel of the lantern and smooth it out. Let it dry and then trim with your X-Acto® knife.
  9. Do this step for all four panels of the lantern.
  10. Flip it over and trim off any excess tissue showing from the front side.
  11. Fold the lantern on the score lines.
  12. Place double-stick tape on the last flap of the lantern and press the first side edge of the lantern onto the last edge.
  13. If the pattern has a top that folds to a point, place double-stick tape on the side flaps of the top and bring/fold the top sides together. Press firmly.

JOANN HACKS:

  • You can change the colored tissue paper for each window opening if you want it to feel like stained glass.
  • You might need to use your X-Acto® knife for picking out the little pieces of cardstock in the window panels.
