NOTES:
Shawl is worked in one piece, back and forth in rows, from center lower tip upwards.
Shawl is shaped with increases worked at beg and end of each RS row.
Center Section of Shawl is worked in Stitch Pattern #1. As stitches are increased, sections on either side of Stitch Pattern #1 are worked in Stitch Pattern #2. Then sections on either side of the Stitch Pattern #2 sections are worked in Stitch Pattern #3.
Markers are used to indicate where to beg and end each pattern stitch section. As sts are increased, markers are moved outwards to allow more repeats of the outermost pattern stitch to be worked. If you are comfortable "reading" your sts, you may choose to omit use of some of the markers.
A circular needle is used to accommodate the stitches. Work back and forth in rows on circular needle as if working with straight needles.
When you see 'work in pattern as established' in the instructions, this means to work the next row of the patterns, lining up sts as in previous rows.

SHAWL:
Cast on 10 sts.
Center Stitch Pattern #1 Section
Row 1 (RS - Increase Row): Sl 1, k1, yo, place marker (sm), work Row 1 of Stitch Pattern #1 to last 2 sts, pm, yo, k1, p1 - 12 sts.

Note: The first 2 sts (sl 1, k1) and last 2 sts (k1, p1) are border sts. These border sts are worked the same in all rows of Shawl.

Row 2: Sl 1, k to marker, slip marker (sm), work in Stitch Pattern #1 as established to next marker, sm, k to last st, p1.

Remove markers while working last row.

Rep Rows 1-12 for 5 more times, working first and last 2 sts for borders as established, sts between border sts and markers in Garter st (k every st of every row), and sts between markers in Stitch Pattern #1 - 82 sts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Instructions I worked on this for about 14 inches and it was not increasing appropriately. I took it all out and am going to use the yarn for a different pattern.
