  • 1/4 yd each of fabrics A, B, D, E, F, G, H, I & J
  • 3/8 yd of fabric C
  • 1-1/2 yds of fabric K (blocks and outer border)

  • 1-1/2 yds of fabric M (white background)
  • Backing 5-1/4 yds
  • Twin size batting 72" x 90"
  • Rotary cutter, ruler & mat
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Iron & pressing surface
  • Sewing machine

  • Quilt size 70" x 84"

DIRECTIONS:

    Use 1/4" seam throughout.

    Cutting (refer to chart 1 to identify the fabrics):
  • From Fabric A cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut three 7-1/2" squares and three 3-1/2" squares.
  • From Fabric B cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut two 7-1/2" squares and two 3-1/2" squares.
  • From Fabric C cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut five 7-1/2" squares. From remaining fabric cut three 3-1/2" squares.
  • From Fabric D cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut two 7-1/2" squares and four 3-1/2" squares.
  • From Fabric E cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut four 7-1/2" squares and five 3-1/2" squares.
  • From Fabric F cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut four 7-1/2" squares and four 3 ½" squares.
  • From Fabric G cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut three 7-1/2" squares and two 3-1/2" squares.
  • From Fabric H cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut four 7-1/2" squares and two 3-1/2" squares.
  • From Fabric I cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut four 7-1/2" squares and four 3-1/2" squares.
  • From Fabric J cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut four 7-1/2" squares and three 3-1/2" squares.
  • From Fabric K:
  • Cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut two 7-1/2" squares and one 3-1/2" square.
  • For outer border - from remaining fabric cut seven strips 6-1/2" x WOF.
  • Piece together and cut two strips 58-1/2" long and two strips 72-1/2" long.
  • From Fabric L:
  • Cut a strip 7-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut three 7-1/2" squares and seven 3-1/2" squares.
  • Cut a strip 6-1/2" x WOF.
  • From this, sub cut four 6-1/2" squares for border corners.
  • For inner border - cut seven strips 1-1/2" x WOF.
  • Piece together and cut two strips 56-1/2" long and two strips 70-1/2" long.
  • For binding - cut eight strips 2-1/2" x WOF.
  • From Fabric M (white) cut 20 strips 2-1/2" x WOF.
  • Sub cut from each strip four 7-1/2" x 2-1/2" pieces and four 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" pieces.

    To assemble quilt:
  1. Sew a white 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" piece at top and bottom of each 3-1/2" square. Press. Sew a 7-1/2" x 2-1/2" piece on each side. Press. There will be 40 blocks.
  2. Refer to chart 2 for block placement and to sew blocks in rows.
  3. Sew on inner border.
  4. For outer border, sew 6-1/2" x 6-1/2" corner blocks to top and bottom borders. Sew top and bottom borders to quilt. Sew outer borders to sides.
  5. Sandwich backing, batting and top together and quilt as desired.
  6. Trim and bind.
