SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Favorite cupcake and buttercream frosting recipe
- Patriotic Cupcake liners
- Wilton’s disposable icing bag
- Star candy mold
- Wilton’s bright white candy melts
- Microwave safe bowl
- Wilton’s food gel in red and blue
- Wilton’s #1M icing tip
DIRECTIONS:
- Mix and bake cupcakes following recipe.
- Mix frosting, set aside a little frosting to color red and blue. Color the smaller portion of frosting red and then another small portion blue. Cut the tip of the disposable bag off and drop icing tip into bag. Hold bag open and with a knife or spatula smear a side of the bag with red frosting, from icing tip to fill line on bag. Repeat on the other side of the bag with blue. Fill bag with white frosting to fill line. Twist top of bag.
- Melt candy melts following instructions on bag in the microwave. Once completely melted, fill star molds with melted candy. Tap mold gently on the counter to remove bubbles. Set aside to dry.
- Once cupcakes are cooled place your icing bag slightly above and at the edge of the cupcake, gently squeeze bag and slowly move in a circular upwards motion towards the center of the cupcake.
- Remove Stars from candy mold and place one on top of cupcake frosting.
