SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 2 Part resin
- Unfinished wood circle
- Clock kit
- Acrylic paint (various colors of choice)
- Glitter / gold flake
- Aluminum pan
- Disposable plastic cups
- Popsicle sticks (one for each color)
- Gloves
- Paper towels for clean up
- Newspaper or disposable tablecloth to protect your work surface
DIRECTIONS:
- Using gloves and working on a protected work surface, follow the instructions on the box to mix the 2 part resin into various disposable cups. You will need one cup for each color. Mix small amounts of paint into the resin and mix with a popsicle stick to distribute the color evenly throughout the resin. Add more paint as needed.
- Place your aluminum pan onto your work surface. You may need to bend it into more of a rounded shape to fit the wood circle. Place 2 cups, opening down, inside the pan to hold up the wood circle so it’s floating above the pan, and the pan will collect the resin runoff.
- Once your wood circle is in place, begin pouring the resin over the wood. Layer the colors in bands and arches to create a geode look. Use inspiration if needed.
- After all your colors are poured to create the desired look add glitter and gold flakes to the resin in bands to accent the geode look.
- Allow to dry as directed on the package. Make sure the hole in the center of the wood is clear of resin, use a pipe cleaner or cotton swab to remove any build up so the clock pieces will easily fit once dry.
- Once the resin is fully cured, add the clock elements as directed on the package.
JOANN HACKS:
- If the Resin hardens without cleaning out the center hole you will need to re-drill the hole with a drill and drill bit. It’s important to take the time to clean out the center hole in step 5.
