DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.- Create one resin item at a time.
- Pour a thin layer of the resin into the mold.
- Make sure it covers the bottom completely.
- Place a very small amount of glitter and the pigment powders at the bottom of the mold and swirl around with a toothpick.
- Shine the UV light on it for 60 seconds.
- Make another layer on top of the harden first layer repeating this process.
- Continue to make thin layers but do not go to the top of the mold.
- Keep your last top layer about 1/8" from the top.
- Push the finished layer out of the mold and flip over so that you are looking at it right side up.
- For a finished look carefully apply a thin layer to the top surface of the letter to bring out the transparency and gloss of the letter.
- At this time, you can also fill in any holes or space it made when creating the first layer.
- Do this process for making each resin piece.
- Once you have made all the pieces, you are ready to start assembling.
- Stain the wooden dowel rod with the walnut stain using a paper towel apply a light stain.
- Let it dry.
- To make the drilled holes on the dowel rod n the dowel, using a ruler, measure and find the center of the dowel rod. With a fine tip sharpie marker, make a small dot. Measure on the dowel rod in each direction 4 inches from the middle and make another mark with the sharpie marker. Measure again 3.5" from each previous dot and make another dot towards the end of the dowel rod.
- 3/4" from each end of the dowel rod you will wrap the ends with the gold wire. Wrap it tightly using the small pliers to hold the ends of the wire. As you are wrapping the rod with the wire, slip on a small jump ring. Make the wire wrap two more times and then twist the wire and snip off the ends of the wire. Press the twisted end flat against the dowel rod.
- Follow the diagram and use the jewelry findings to assemble the chains, eye pins, flat head pins and jump rings.
- When you are closing each jump ring, make sure the ends are flush by using your two pairs of needle nose pliers.
JOANN HACKS:
- Let the resin pieces sit for a couple of days to completely harden.
- If possible, put them in a sunny window to harden.
- To get off any stickiness, rub the resin pieces with a cotton ball with alcohol on it. Let them dry before assembling.
